Nature Trail & Beach Day
The Penang National Park is located on the north-western tip of the island at Teluk Bahang.
The park with its rainforest and beaches, is a great place to go jungle trekking, camping, fishing, wildlife and bird watching or just relax on its beautiful beaches.
There are two main hiking tracks through the rainforest. One will lead you to Pantai Kerachut, turtle nesting beach and the more popular is Teluk Duyung or monkey beach.
The tracks are often steep, wet and tricky with lots of roots, fallen trees to climb over, so wear some proper footwear.
At Pantai Kerachut you will find a rare meromictic lake (a lake with two layers of salt and fresh water that don’t mix) and turtle sanctuary.
Green Sea Turtle lays their eggs all year round here in Penang. If you are lucky and at the right time you can view baby turtles at the Penang Turtle Santuary.
By far the most popular stretch, the monkey beach where both local and foreign tourists come for picnic and swimming and other activities.
